Itinerary: 11 Days Agadir to Sahara Desert Tour

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Agadir

   Your Moroccan adventure starts when you arrive in Agadir. Your driver will meet you at the airport and take you directly to your hotel.

   Depending on your arrival time, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing or getting your first look at the city. There’s no need to rush; this first evening is simply about settling in and getting ready for the journey ahead.

2. Day 2

   Guided tour of Agadir

   After breakfast, we’ll spend the day getting to know Agadir with a local guide. We’ll head up to Agadir Oufla for a fantastic view of the city and the Atlantic coast before visiting Souk El Had.

   For lunch, there will be time to enjoy fresh local food, followed by a relaxed afternoon. You can walk along the beach, enjoy the sea air, or simply take some time for yourself before returning to the hotel.

3. Day 3

   Travel from Agadir to Zagora

   Today the scenery begins to change. We leave the coast behind and drive towards Taroudant, where you can explore the old walls and traditional streets before continuing south.

   We’ll pass through Taliouine, an area known for saffron, and Taznakht, where traditional Moroccan carpets are still made by hand. By the time we reach Zagora, the landscape will feel completely different from the Atlantic coast.

4. Day 4

   Zagora – Merzouga Desert

   After breakfast, we’ll have a little time to enjoy the palm groves of Zagora before setting off towards Merzouga. The road takes us deeper into the dry landscapes of southeastern Morocco, with plenty of interesting scenery along the way.

   Later in the day, we reach the Sahara. You’ll leave the vehicle behind and take a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving at your desert camp around sunset. After dinner, enjoy music around the campfire and a night beneath the stars.

5. Day 5

   A Full Day Around Merzouga Desert

   There’s something special about waking up in the Sahara. If you wake early enough, you can watch the first light appear over the dunes before breakfast.

   Today is dedicated to discovering the area around Merzouga. We’ll visit a nomadic family, stop in Khamlia to experience traditional Gnaoua music, and explore some of the desert landscapes away from the main dunes. Later, we return to the camp and enjoy another evening in the Sahara.

6. Day 6

   Merzouga Desert to Dades Valley

   Today we leave Merzouga and gradually move from the desert towards the mountains. We’ll pass through Rissani and Erfoud, travelling through the huge Tafilalt oasis before continuing towards Tinghir.

   The highlight of the afternoon is Todra Gorge, where we’ll stop for a walk and enjoy the enormous cliffs surrounding the valley. From there, we continue to Dades, where you’ll spend the night surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the valley.

7. Day 7

   Dades – Ouarzazate – Ait ben haddou

   We continue west through the landscapes of the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. Along the way, we’ll stop in Skoura to visit Kasbah Amridil, surrounded by palm trees and old mud-brick architecture.

   Our next stop is Ouarzazate, where there is time to see Taourirt Kasbah and the Cinema Studio. Later, we continue to Ait Ben Haddou, arriving with enough time to enjoy the atmosphere of this historic village.

8. Day 8

   Aït ben haddou – Marrakech

   Start the morning by exploring Ait Ben Haddou on foot. Walking through the narrow paths and between the old buildings gives you a much better feeling for the history of the place.

   From here, we take the scenic road through the Ounila Valley and over the High Atlas Mountains. The drive offers changing views almost all the way to Marrakech, where we’ll arrive later in the day and check into a traditional riad.

9. Day 9

   Guided tour of Marrakech

   Today is about discovering Marrakech without having to worry about the road. A local guide will take you through the Medina, introducing you to the city’s history, architecture, palaces, gardens, and traditional souks.

   After the guided visit, you’ll have some free time to explore on your own. Get lost in the small streets, shop for souvenirs, enjoy Moroccan food, or simply sit somewhere around Jemaa el-Fnaa and watch the city come alive.

10. Day 10

    Marrakech – Essaouira

    We leave Marrakech behind and head towards the Atlantic coast. Along the way, we’ll make a stop to see the famous goats in the Argan trees, one of the unusual sights you may encounter in this part of Morocco.

    By the time we reach Essaouira, the atmosphere changes completely. Spend the afternoon wandering through the old Medina, visiting the harbor, trying fresh seafood, or walking along the beach as the sun begins to set.

11. Day 11

    Essaouira – Agadir

    Enjoy your final morning in Essaouira before heading back towards Agadir. Your private driver will collect you and arrange the transfer according to your flight schedule.

    And that’s where this 11-day Agadir to Sahara Desert tour comes to an end — after the coast, mountains, kasbahs, palm valleys, the Sahara, Marrakech, and Essaouira, you’ll have experienced a very different side of Morocco.
